Yesterday, everyone knew The Beatles. Today, only Jack remembers their songs. He’s about to become a very big deal. From Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and Richard Curtis, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually and Notting Hill, comes a rock-n-roll comedy about music, dreams, friendship, and the long and winding road that leads to the love of your life.

Jack Malik (Himesh Patel, BBC’s Eastenders) is a struggling singer-songwriter in a tiny English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend, Ellie (Lily James, Mama Mia! Here We Go Again). Then, after a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed … and he finds himself with a very complicated problem, indeed.

Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, and with a little help from his steel-hearted American agent, Debra (Emmy winner Kate McKinnon), Jack’s fame explodes. But as his star rises, he risks losing Ellie — the one person who always believed in him. With the door between his old life and his new closing, Jack will need to get back to where he once belonged and prove that all you need is love.

Featuring new versions of The Beatles’ most beloved hits, Yesterday is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Love Actually, About A Boy, the Bridget Jones series) alongside Matthew James Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. Curtis and Boyle also produce. Nick Angel and Lee Brazier serve as executive producers.

Some times I imagine the entire modern civilization crumbles (nobody dies okay! just that every one loose their memory), and during that confusion a hero rises (me), who help them in everything (only i can use the internet.) ;p

Interesting idea, but after Bohamian Rapsody and Rocket Man i would much rather see a film about the actual band.

plot twist, this is 40 years in the future where people don't remember the past of America because they are tearing down artworks and outing history in schools.

I would have fucking LOVED to see this movie without seeing the trailer first. Saw it in the movies, so I didn't really have a choice, but damn that is a pretty interesting premise. Still gonna see it though, but I wish I could have my mind be blown away by this idea during the movie instead of during my wait to see the new spiderman.

I've never been a big fan of the Beatles and their songs, yes it was before my time, but I do know a lot of their songs.... Anyway, there is something about this trailer that gives me goosebumps, I just have to watch it over! Loving Himeshs voice on yesterday. Can't wait to see the movie!

Saw the film today. Very original and very entertaining. The icing on the cake woulda been McCartney making a cameo appearance as a road sweeper, or taxi driver or something. Stan Lee style as in the Avengers movies.

What should have happened: Jack realizes after the injury, there are no Beatles, and starts writing the songs of 'The Beatles', get successful, gets overcome with guilt and can't handle the pressure, announces from the stage that he is a fraud, the crowd turns on him, he can't show his face anywhere and lives in isolation and shame. (No meeting Lennon, nor the two people who remember as well) . He years later dies all alone. At the end, we go to a flashback from before the blackout, as Ellie is looking through some old Billboard top 100 of the 60's.....No Beatles. Bottom line, the Beatles NEVER existed, Jack imagined them after the accident, and he really did compose those songs.

Next, Hollywood will write a movie about a “down on her luck prostitute” who gets picked up by a billionaire guy, spends tons of quirky moments about not “fitting it”, goes from rags to riches and ends with him overcoming his ability to commit and picking her up in his limo... But wait, there is more... How about a movie about of misfit kids in Astoria Oregon who hunt missing Pirate Treasure... or four guys who fight ghosts in NYC, but instead of fight, we’ll use the term “bust”. If that’s doesn’t work, go with a teen age kid who befriends an odd scientist who just happens to build a time machine. Strange events happen and the kid accidentally goes back and time and gets sucks. He needs the past scientist to him get home while trying not to change his own fate.... If done right, Hollywood can make THREE movies out of this idea!
